Jeff Mehalic

Jeff Mehalic knew he wanted to be a lawyer when he was 8 years old. He has always had a passion for justice, and he was attracted to the idea of fighting for plaintiffs’ rights. Jeff graduated cum laude from West Virginia University in 1982 and earned his law degree from the same school in 1985. He practiced at a law firm in Charleston until 2000, when he started his own practice. 

Jeff’s passion is helping ordinary people who are being mistreated by powerful institutions. That’s why he represents victims of consumer fraud, debt collection harassment, lemon law violations, credit reporting errors, and unwanted telephone calls. 

Jeff practices alone, so he is the only lawyer his clients will work with. He will be intimately familiar with every aspect of his clients’ cases. They will never be shunted off to another person. All consultations with Jeff are free, and he operates on a contingency basis. He won’t be paid unless his clients win. 

Jeff is also a passionate humanitarian. He volunteers with Legal Aid of West Virginia, which provides free representation to vulnerable populations such as senior citizens, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and low-income families. Jeff also volunteers with the Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative, where he represents for free immigrants who have been detained.
