Washington D.C. is shutting down today in anticipation of a fierce snowstorm that The National Weather Service estimates could blanket the city with six to twelve inches of snow – the most the DC area has had in two years. The storm has already done a number on the Midwest, cutting power to nearly 50,000 homes and businesses, and leading to dozens of car accidents and hundreds of cancelled flights.
Around 375,000 federal workers in the D.C. area were ordered to stay home by the government, and several major school districts in the area have also shut down ahead of the storm, which boasts winds of up to 35 MPH. Heavy snow already began overnight in Charlottesville, Virginia, leaving over a foot on the ground by morning.
Winter weather conditions this severe inevitably lead to serious car accidents and truck accidents. It’s best to stay indoors and cancel plans whenever possible. However, if you do find yourself out on the road during a snowstorm and become the victim of a negligent driver, you deserve justice and compensation for any injuries you have sustained.
