Award-winning news correspondent Richard Threlkeld, who worked for both ABC and CBS News during his 25+ year career, was recently killed in a New York truck accident on Long Island. The 74-year-old was traveling north on Cross Highway at around 8AM when his Mini Cooper collided with a propane tanker. The tanker truck was traveling eastbound at the time of the crash.
Therlkeld was quickly transported to Southampton Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The driver of the tanker truck was not injured. According to police, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Both vehicles are undergoing safety checks.
