Administration on Ageing

For over 35 years, the Administration on Ageing (AoA) has provided home and community-based services to millions of older people through the programs funded under the Older Americans Act. Among the many programs that the administration supports are the home-delivered meals programs, nutrition services in congregate settings, transportation, adult day care, legal assistance, and health promotion programs. In nursing homes, you may have talked to Ombudsmen, who provide an on-going presence in long-term care facilities, monitoring care and conditions and providing a voice for those who are unable to speak for themselves. The National Family Caregiver Support Program provides a variety of services to help people who are caring for family members who are chronically ill or who have disabilities.
