A Phoenix jury finally convicted the driver of a 23,000-pound dump truck who collided with a group of motorcyclists in 2010, killing four of the bikers and injuring five other people in the truck accident. The 49-year-old truck driver has been found guilty for:
- Four counts of manslaughter
- Five counts of aggravated assault
- One count of endangerment imminent death
- There counts of endangerment physical injury
The trucker failed to stop at a highway traffic light, causing him to slam into the group of motorcyclists who had obeyed the signal. The truck driver’s defense lawyers argued that a mechanical failure inside of the truck caused the crash, but prosecutors found methamphetamines in his system at the time of the truck accident, proving the man’s negligence and responsibility for the fatal crash.
