A seventy-year-old woman was driving on Route 8 in Pennsylvania’s Butler County this past Thursday when she became involved in a chain-reaction truck accident that occurred in front of Clearview Mall. A tri-axle dump truck ended up landing on top of her car. It took firefighters 45 minutes to free the woman from her totaled vehicle, but incredibly, she was still conscious and alert. She did, however, suffer from broken ribs and a broken pelvis.
Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident. Witnesses say a car was making a left turn in front of the woman’s car and the dump truck when the accident occurred. According to those at the scene, there was “practically nothing left” of the woman’s car after the accident.
Victims of car accidents aren’t always so lucky. Traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other catastrophic personal injuries are common consequences of a serious wreck, impacting a person’s future for years to come. When reckless drivers endanger other people’s lives, they can and should be held accountable.
