A fiery collision between two cars in East Texas killed eight people, including three young children and their mother. The car accident was caused by a rented Chevy Malibu that was headed east on U.S. 82. Randomly, the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the Chrysler 300 that carried the mother and her children, heading westbound.
The Malibu had been rented in Tulsa, Oklahoma by two men, who died along with the other two passengers in their car. A passerby came upon the burning wreck, which happened about 15 miles northeast of Dallas. Authorities are uncertain when, exactly, the car accident occurred.
