On Sunday, the driver of a BMV slammed into a car that was carrying a young pregnant woman and her husband in New York City, killing them both. The driver fled the scene of the car accident. Witnesses say they saw a passenger with him. New York City police are still looking for the suspects.
According to reports, the pregnant woman was headed to the hospital because she was feeling ill. Their vehicle was struck at an intersection in Brooklyn. Medics managed to deliver the couple’s baby boy alive, but the infant is currently in serious condition. The husband and wife were married a year ago and had just started a life together in Williamsburg.
When a car accident results in wrongful death, the negligent driver deserves to be held accountable, and the surviving family members deserve justice for the unnecessary loss of their loved one(s). However, when the driver who caused the accident flees the scene and refuses to accept responsibility, their actions go far beyond negligence: a hit-and-run is a criminal act.
