In the State of Indiana, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the Indiana State Bar Association is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of Indiana courts.
The Indiana State Bar Association is a voluntary organization for legal professionals in the state of Indiana. Many lawyers and attorneys are members of the state bar association. The Indiana State Bar Association offers a variety of services to its members. Insurance for legal professionals, continuing legal education, a legal directory, and many community outreach programs are all sponsored by the association.
The association first organized on June 23, 1896, in the hall of the Indiana House of Representatives with more than 100 lawyers present. Today, four out of five lawyers belong to the organization. Special services to members include professional publications, continuing legal education, legislative representation and information, community service opportunities, conventions, special events, technology, input into changes in the legal system, legal ethics programs, and monetary discounts.
