Four people were involved in a boating accident in Destin, Florida this past Saturday. According to authorities, two women and two men were aboard a 30-foot-long speedboat near Crab Island when the boat began to spin out of control. All four people were thrown into the water.
Many onlookers rushed to help, and were able to pull three of the boaters to safety. However, local investigators say that one man never surfaced, prompting police from across the area to begin a search. The two women were taken to a local hospital, but their conditions have not been released.
Authorities succeeded in finding the body of the missing man a little over two hours after the accident occurred, but could not revive him. So far, investigators aren’t sure whether the boating accident was due to a boat malfunction, or driver error. Accidents like these are far too common in Florida, which leads the country in boating fatalities.
