Massachusetts Bar Association

In the State of Massachusetts, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the Massachusetts Bar Association is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of Massachusetts’s courts.
The Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) is a non-profit organization that serves the legal profession and the public. Ever since it was founded in 1910, the organization has been an influential leader in legal issues. The association promotes the administration of justice, legal education, professional excellence, and respect for the law. The MBA offers many programs to the public including a statewide Lawyer Referral Service, monthly Dial-A-Lawyer phone-in programs, educational activities for high school students, elder-law outreach, a speaker’s bureau, and more.
Officially, the Massachusetts Bar Association exists to serve the legal profession and the public. The MBA encourages diversity of gender, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, age, disability, ethnic origin, and geographic representation in its membership.
Three different divisions work to fulfill the honorable goals of the bar. The Massachusetts Bar Foundation is influential in fund raising. The Massachusetts Bar Institute organizes a variety of continuing legal education programs. Finally, the Committee on Professional Ethics offers a variety of options for attorneys who have specific ethical inquiries or want to stay abreast of new outlooks on ethical issues.
