In the State of Minnesota, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the Minnesota State Bar Association is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of Minnesota courts.
The Minnesota State Bar Association is an organization that represents the needs of legal professionals in the state of Minnesota. The Bar offers many services to its members. Services include travel discounts, insurance options, continued education, and networking within the legal community. A legal journal, Bench & Bar, is provided, free of charge, to all members of the association. Each issues details any new laws within the state, provides information about cases, and contains legal editorials. The Minnesota State Bar Association also sponsors a lawyer referral service, an online directory, and advertisements of employment opportunities for the public.
A major goal of the association is continued legal education. Classes and seminars aimed at keeping all members of the Bar informed about the most recent changes in Minnesota State law are sponsored by the bar. Certification can only be maintained if the lawyers attend continued legal education classes. Public education programs are also sponsored to increase public appreciation for the law.
