Missouri Bar

In the State of Missouri, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the Missouri Bar is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of Missouri courts.
The Missouri Bar is the organization that represents legal professionals in the state of Missouri. The organization was created “for the purpose of aiding the lawyers of Missouri in the perfection of a means of organization that will best aid them in the discharge of their public duty.” That public duty is to “strive at all times to uphold the honor and maintain the dignity of the profession and to improve not only the law but the administration of justice.”
The many services the Bar offers to its members and to the public strive to fulfill this purpose. These important services include a new lawyer mentoring program, legal education publications, a lawyer’s assistance program, insurance, benefits, and a lawyer referral service for the public. All members of the bar are required to continue their legal education to ensure the continued professional competence of Missouri lawyers. To facilitate in this necessity, the Bar offers many education seminars and classes to its members.
Located in Jefferson City, The Missouri Bar Center houses most the state bar’s departments, including administration, communications, legislation, continuing legal education, minimum continuing legal education and lawyer services. The Missouri Bar Center also contains conference rooms and meeting areas, which are available to any groups or individuals who wish to use them for meetings, depositions, or other business functions.
