The North Carolina State Bar is the state agency responsible for regulating the practice of law in North Carolina. It is a mandatory organization for all lawyers in North Carolina. Discipline of unfit lawyers is the main responsibility of the bar.
If any member of the public files a complaint against any lawyer, the official procedure is passed to the North Carolina State Bar. The Bar is dedicated to ensuring that every legal professional is capable of representing the public.
The bar also sponsors continuing legal education classes occasionally. Every member must subscribe to a code of legal ethics. The bar also regulates legal ethics, and is responsible for many reforms in that area.
