A Georgia officer is recovering after being attacked and bitten by a dangerous dog. The female officer was attempting to pick up a dog and place it in her pickup truck when another dog attacked her and bit her on the lower leg.
While the dog bite did not leave severe injuries, it did leave two fairly large gashes in the woman’s calf. After being bitten, the officer requested help from animal control and told them where they could find the dangerous animal. Once apprehended, the dog was taken to a local animal shelter.
After an animal has bitten someone in Georgia, it must be held for ten days following the biting incident so that it can be observed. During this time, the dog is kept away from humans and other animals to make sure it is not suffering from rabies or any other diseases.
Fortunately in this case, the officer did not suffer any serious injuries, but for other dog bite victims, the animal attack can lead to serious consequences. For small children especially, a dog bite can result in facial lacerations, severe cuts and bruises, or broken bones.
