In the State of Nevada, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the State Bar of Nevada is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of Nevada courts.
The State Bar of Nevada is an organization that represents legal professionals in the state of Nevada. The bar works to ensure that Nevada residents have access to the justice system, the public is provided with the best and most knowledgeable legal assistance, members are provided with the most recent legal news, all members practice professionalism, and a variety of pro bono activities are completed.
The State Bar offers Continuing Legal Education courses for all those practicing law in Nevada. Specialty classes in a wide range of areas, including personal injury law, are provided to keep lawyers up to date. Online courses are even available. A monthly legal journal, the Nevada Lawyer, provides legal professionals with information they need to best serve the public. The State Bar of Nevada sponsors seminars regarding legal ethics as well.
Admission into the bar is very selective. All prospective lawyers must complete several tests to show that they are capable of representing law in Nevada. All applicants must pass the state Bar Exam, complete legal education, demonstrate that they are of good moral character, not have any mental disorders that would interfere with their ability to practice law, not be an abuser of alcohol or drugs, and they must pass the multistate professional responsibility examination.
