On June 14, 2009 a 15-passenger van traveling with 12 teenage passengers went off the road on Blewitt Pass and rolled over, injuring several people inside. In a van rollover accident, there can be many different parties who are liable for injuries suffered, which is why you should have an experienced auto accident attorney help you with your claim.
Police investigators reported that the van was filled with members of a Northwest Youth Corps group from Eugene Oregon. The group works with teenagers in youth development and outdoor education.
The van and the teens were headed north to perform trail maintenance in Central Washington. Around 2:30 p.m. the van left the road it was traveling on and rolled down an embankment.
In addition to the 12 teenage passengers who were between 16 and 19-years-old, the van had one adult driver. All the people within the van were taken to a local hospital to get treated for injuries, and all but about 5 of the passengers had suffered some form of injury.
It is not clear yet what caused the van to veer off the road. In the past, van rollover and SUV rollover accidents have been caused by driver error, defective tires, and even defective van manufacturing.
