Earlier today, a tractor-trailer accident near the 32nd Street exit on Interstate 10 in Phoenix backed up traffic in both directions, causing the interstate to be closed for several hours. Traffic is now open in both directions, but the harrowing collision could easily have been far worse. According to authorities, the accident involved a tractor-trailer that collided with a pole and proceeded to roll over into the center median wall of the highway.
The truck then “jumped” the median wall, putting opposing traffic at risk. A man who was driving down the eastbound I-10 witnessed the accident and confirmed that around 20 drivers stopped to help the trapped trucker. Two people were cut out of the semi-truck’s section and had to be taken to a Phoenix hospital; they are currently in critical condition. Meanwhile, the cause of the truck accident is still under investigation.
Commercial truck accidents are rarely not serious. When a truck driver loses control of their vehicle, the damage and injuries can be catastrophic. All motor vehicle accidents can be traced back to some form of negligence – a careless act, or a failure to act that led to the dangerous incident.
