This past Monday, Texas firefighters responded to a water purifier explosion that was reported at a Texas Instruments facility in Richardson. According to police, a 54-year-old worker was impaled by glass as a result of the explosion, and is now dead.
A spokeswoman with Texas Instruments stated on Tuesday that the company is still gathering information about the workplace accident, which remains under investigation. The cause of the water purifier explosion is still unknown.
Employees have a right to expect that the environment where they work is safe. Although some accidents are truly unexpected and unavoidable, others could have been prevented if proper safety measures were taken, and potentially dangerous devices were monitored.
